Medical Technologist
Work Hours Regular Full-Time (Req# 2025-281, 2026-020) 8 hour rotating shift, 40 hours per week.

Description of Position Performs various chemical, microscopic, immunologic, hematologic, hematoimmunologic (Blood Bank), histologic and microbiologic procedures for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Receives or obtains specimens for laboratory analysis, and records laboratory test results. Abides by all state and federal regulations governing laboratory activities. May engage in research and teaching activities. Performs other related laboratory duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements Requires a Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university and successful completion of a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) or National Agency on Accreditation for Clinical Laboratory Scientists (NAACLS)-accredited medical technology program, which includes clinical training in an accredited hospital. Clinical training must include chemistry, hemotology, microbiology, parasitology, serology, immunology/Blood Bank, and urinalysis. Certification by a reputable national board of registry such as the American Society of Clinical Pathologist is required. Hawaii Clinical Laboratory Technologist license is required. Previous experience as a medical technologist is desirable; or any combination of education and experience which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications to perform the essential functions of this position. Successful completion of six (6) to eight (8) week orientation of Health System and departmental protocols and safety program is required upon hire.
