Description : Position Summary
The Staff nurse, under clinical supervision of physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner will provide professional nursing services of primary care to ensure patient needs are met in a professional and timely manner. The Nurse responsibilities will include the general operational activities of the clinic.

With appropriate supervision assesses physical and psychosocial needs of patients and makes appropriate nursing interventions; assists physicians with examinations, treatments and other procedures.Educates and counsels patients and their families on procedures, medical care and sensitive health issues, including the need for follow up.Prepares and maintains a variety of pertinent records reflecting patient’s condition, medication and treatment, and other records required by state and federal agencies.Obtains and prepares a variety of specimens for laboratory analysis : schedules, administers, ordered laboratory tests, recognizes critical results and calls these results to providers’ attention .Maintains inventory of medical supplies, medications, and vaccines; ensures that examination and / or consultation rooms are properly equipped and supplied.Co-ordinates referrals as instructed by physician to local and regional providers of medical, social and / or other specialized services.Obtains insurance pre-authorizations for medications as specified by the providers.Performs and documents routine treatments and procedures including but not limited to irrigations, suture removals, wound care, refills to pharmacy per provider orders, nebulizer treatments and lab tests.Generate encounter forms for each patient with appropriate information documented in the EHR, and prepares patient records for the provider.Maintain patient’s confidentiality at all times with all types of PHI.Manages workflow within the practice so that patient flow is maintained at an optimum rate.Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse socioeconomic and ethic origins.Adhere to Dosher’s Standards of Behavior. Work together with others in the spirit of teamwork, and share information so that the people who need to be aware of the facts are informed.Attend hospital in-service programs and department al meetings.Have knowledge of departmental policies and procedures, objectives, personnel policies and procedures and hospital mission statement and objectives.Perform other related duties as assigned.Attends to patient inquires and requests in a timely and courteous manner.If selected as Infection Control liaison, must complete state required Infection control course for practice setting within first three months of employment and complete any annual education deemed necessary by the hospital or per state and federal guidelines.Requirements : Qualifications
Education :
Graduate of an approved LPN or RN school of nursingCertification / Licensure :
Current licensure in the state of North Carolina as a LPN or RNCurrent BLS certification from approved American Heart Association courseNecessary Skills
Ability to evaluate and assess the need for nursing and / or medical services under the supervision of the appropriate healthcare professional when necessaryExercise independent judgment.Ability to work with individuals and families in a clinical setting to resolve health problems.Perform skilled nursing and patient care tasks as appropriate to training and directed by the provider.Anticipate patient’s needs.Knowledge of the principles, practices and skill techniques of nursing.Knowledge of use and effects of medications and immunizations.Possess strong interviewing and counseling techniques.Physical Demands :
Requires full range of body motion, manual finger dexterity, and twisting on a daily basis.Lifting / carry up to 30 lbsPush up to 250lbsMust be able to work under physically and emotionally stressed conditions.Requires normal vision, hearing and the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.Working Conditions :
May frequently be exposed to communicable diseases.Frequent hand washing with either with soap and water or alcohol-based solutions.Protective Equipment Required :
