Position Requirements
Formal Education / Training
Graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology and accredited by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.Workplace Experience
Preferably, at least one year of hospital experience; however, willing to train motivated candidates.Equipment and Skills Training
General knowledge of various x-ray equipment and computers, with training on specific equipment provided.Previous training in fluoroscopy, surgery, and routine studies is advantageous.Physical Environment
Ability to practice radiation safety and universal precautions in a multi-modality imaging department.
Physical Effort
Ability to assist in patient transfers and operate equipment; must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.Must demonstrate emotional stability and sound judgment during interactions with patients and team members.Performance Standards
Verify patient identification and physician orders to ensure accuracy before proceeding with studies.Inquire about the possibility of pregnancy with female patients aged 12-50 and document responses.Document allergies and medical history for patients receiving intravenous contrast media.Implement proper radiation safety measures and adhere to ALARA, IMAGE GENTLY, and IMAGE WISELY principles.Maintain patient dignity and comfort during examinations and transport.Utilize downtime effectively by assisting in other areas as needed.Regularly check on patients waiting in hallways for comfort and pain management.Exhibit leadership and teamwork in challenging situations.Be proactive about volunteering for overtime and filling in when needed.Ensure patient safety during transfers and while on the radiology table.Consistently perform high-quality imaging studies.Collaborate well with colleagues to ensure efficient equipment use and fulfill physician and patient requests.
