We are looking for several Automation Engineers to join a rapidly growing Engineering & Specialty Contracting company. This role is responsible for leading the start-up, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting of building automation and control systems. The position partners closely with engineering and project teams, supports complex projects from installation through turnover, and plays a key role in mentoring junior technicians while ensuring quality, safety, and performance standards are met.
Responsibilities
Start up, program, commission, and troubleshoot building automation and control systems
Collaborate with engineering, operations, purchasing, and project teams
Interpret sequences of operations and translate them into functional control logic
Perform point-to-point checkout, calibration, and QA / QC documentation
Configure networks, controllers, and communication protocols
Develop graphics, dashboards, alarms, and historical trending
Lead medium to large projects and provide technical oversight
Mentor and train junior automation technicians
Diagnose and resolve complex HVAC, electrical, and process control issues
Requirements
4–7 years of hands-on automation or controls field experience
Associate degree in electronics, automation, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Proficiency with PLC / DDC programming and control logic methods
Strong understanding of networking, commissioning, and process controls
Ability to work independently and manage priorities on active job sites
Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills
Valid driver's license and ability to work in construction / industrial environments
