Facility Maintenance Mechanic

Hourly rate : $35.62

The successful candidate will join the Facility Operations team to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Contract (CMOE) located at NASA’s Langley Research Center (LaRC). This position reports directly to the Steam Plant Supervisor.

Responsibilities :

• Operation and maintenance of Boilers, heating furnaces, Steam / Condensate distribution systems, pressure regulator valves and associated equipment
• Perform water chemistry sampling / testing as necessary
• Will provide best practices training / direction to personnel regarding maintenance and repairs of related equipment, as necessary
• Starts and stops equipment and builds up specified pressure in equipment / systems, adjusts or sets controls to maintain continuous supply of utilities to facilities
• Observes operational temperature and pressure gauges and adjusts controls accordingly
• Lubricates, maintains, and cleans equipment
• Requires applicant to become a Safety Operator, qualified Steam Plant operator, fuel delivery truck operator and Nitrogen delivery truck operator
• Performs repairs, troubleshoots and makes adjustments to machinery and equipment as required
• Responds to after-hour emergencies within contract allotted time frame
• Must show an ability to provide leadership and training during repair efforts that drive reliability by demonstrating good mechanical practices and judgment
• Assists the plant personnel in the development, and performance of equipment PM’s, reliability metrics, work plans, and other RCM tasks
