The Sanford School of Medicine is seeking physician applications for a Vice Chair for Pediatrics.
Expectations - Maintain board certification through the appropriate specialty board.
- Collaborate on department matters with the Chair and other department leadership.
- Assist the department in carrying out strategic plans that foster USD SSOM’s mission of teaching, innovation and compassion.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with students and faculty.
- Collaborate with other educational leaders to continually improve the pediatric education program for students and residents.
- Encourage and foster excellence in research, scholarship, teaching and service.
This position reports to Dr. Michelle Baack, MD, Chair, Pediatrics.

Regularly attend and present updates at quarterly Department Faculty meetings and Division Chief meetings.2. Lead the Pediatrics Grand Rounds & Faculty Development committee which organizes content and assists with these series.3. Coordination of the department’s faculty mentoring program.4. Support the academic success of faculty including assisting the Chair in annual evaluations, promotions and awards processes. 5. Support initiatives that enhance educational experiences for students and residents, including the pediatric interest group6. Provide leadership, act on behalf of and fill-in for Department Chair when needed.7. Routinely participate in Department and School of Medicine committees.8.
