Front Desk Clerk - Country Inn & Suites Boise

The Country Inn & Suites of Boise Meridian is seeking an experienced Front Desk Clerk to join their team! The Front Desk associate’s primary responsibility is to ensure guest satisfaction by providing professional and courteous front desk service. The Front Desk Associate is also responsible for providing service that is efficient and effective as a means to maximize room revenue.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

1. Must have the ability to provide professional and courteous guest service.
2. Must have good time management skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
3. Must have good organizational skills, the ability to multitask and strong attention to detail.
4. Must have the ability to understand and follow verbal/written instructions and communicate both verbally and in writing.
5. Must have the ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude when handling guest situations.
6. Must have a working knowledge of computers and basic math skills.
7. Customer service experience preferred, but not required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assists all guests in a professional and courteous manner.
2. Performs job duties and responsibilities in a cost-effective manner and within budgetary guidelines.
3. Greets guests and processes hotel registration and other transactions promptly while maintaining confidentiality of all guest information.
4. Stays current on hotel accommodations, services and local attractions in order to effectively assist guests.
5. Performs all guest accounting functions according to established hotel operating procedures to ensure all guest and house accounts are complete and accurate.
6. Adheres to all established credit and inventory control procedures to minimize exposure to loss of revenue.
7. Demonstrates the use of sales techniques to effectively sell the property, maximizing occupancy and average rate.
8. Professionally and competently operates the telephone system according to brand standards while using proper etiquette and appropriate greetings.
9. Receives and processes telephone and walk-in reservations accurately.
10. Monitors the printer and fax machine to ensure prompt attention is given to documents received.
11. Maintains the cleanliness of the lobby area and performs laundry duties as needed.
12. Removes snow from hotel main entrance and sidewalks as needed.
13. Acts as manager on duty in the absence of the General Manager and/or Guest Service Manager.
14. Understands and applies all hotel safety and security procedures as required to maintain a safe and secure environment for employees and guests.
15. Keeps supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance coming to his/her attention so prompt corrective action can be taken.
16. Performs all other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS ANALYSIS:

The Front Desk associate works primarily indoors in a temperature-controlled environment. This position requires continuous standing and walking, and frequent lifting, carrying, bending and reaching throughout entire shift. Hazards may include, but are not limited to, slipping and tripping, exposure variable temperatures, weather elements, computer terminals and standard cleaning chemicals.
