We currently support many diverse projects such as the International Space Station (ISS), Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and NASA's Extra-Vehicular Activity (EVA) and Space Suits, just to name a few! We are seeking a passionate and highly motivated Systems Engineer to support the Pressurized Rover project in Houston, TX, in partnership with our teammate company. This high-impact role requires deep expertise in system architecture, integration, and risk management, providing crucial technical oversight for both the Rover and critical Orion Landing and Recovery Systems (LRS).

Key Responsibilities :

You will work in close collaboration with the Lead Systems Engineer and Project Systems Engineering team, demonstrating leadership and technical authority in the following areas :

Systems Engineering Leadership : Lead interdisciplinary teams through all phases of the Systems Engineering "V" model .

Orion Landing System Oversight : Serve as backup to the System Manager (SM) , ensuring technical oversight and continuity.

LRS Coordination : Support the SM in coordinating and covering all Landing and Recovery System (LRS) meetings and tasks.

Integration Support : Assist in crucial integration efforts between NASA and Prime Contractor teams for the Orion landing system.

Technical Documentation : Review, develop, and approve specifications, Interface Requirements Documents (IRDs) , and Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for key subsystems (LRS, Mechanisms, Structures, GN&C, Pyrotechnics, and Propulsion).

Verification & Compliance : Review and approve verification plans and reports to ensure compliance with system requirements.

Risk & Issue Management : Proactively coordinate technical activities to anticipate and resolve issues, optimize requirements, and identify / manage technical risks with mitigation strategies.

Post-Landing Collaboration : Collaborate with Orion and Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) to support post-landing and recovery activities for the Crew Service Module (CSM) from an engineering technical authority perspective.

Required Qualifications :

Education & Experience : Typically requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution and normally possess 10-12 years of related experience in systems engineering and vehicle integration.

Proven experience in system architecture, requirements development, design trades, risk analysis , and space hardware systems analysis.

Experience with certification of human spaceflight hardware .

Strong understanding of risk management and rigorous testing methodologies .

Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and requirements management platforms (e.g., Jama, IBM DOORS, DOORS Next Gen).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical abilities, and attention to detail.

Preferred Skills & Experience :

Candidates possessing the following skills will be highly competitive :

Experience delivering spaceflight hardware for operational missions .

Working knowledge of NASA, JSC, and ISS engineering standards and practices, including safety and fault tolerance.

Familiarity with NASA / JSC documentation systems and SharePoint environments.

Prior experience participating in or supporting program-level review boards.

As we are a Federal Contractor, most positions require the employee to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government background investigation. MRI also completes a pre-screening background check for anyone offered employment.
