Health & Joy Services (HAJS) is seeking caring and reliable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our PRN pool for weekend and evening coverage across our Supportive Living and In-Home Support programs. PRN staff provide vital coverage when primary staff are unavailable, ensuring individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities continue to receive consistent, high-quality care. This is a flexible role ideal for those seeking part-time, meaningful work. Please Note : As part of HAJS policy, PRN staff must be available to accept at least 4 shifts per month.

About Health and Joy Services (HAJS)

Health & Joy Services is a Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) Home and Community Based Services Medicaid Waiver provider. We are currently providing Community Living Services through Supportive Living, In-Home Supports, Individualized Day Support, Companion, Clinical Services, Respite Care, and Assistive Technology Services. Our main goal is to positively impact the lives of people with disabilities and their families. Providing quality service from the heart by sharing Love, giving Hope, and experiencing healthy Joy.

ey Responsibilities

Resident & Individual Support

  • Assist with daily living activities, personal care, and household routines in a respectful, person-centered manner.
  • Support a safe, nurturing, and inclusive home environment.
  • Provide light housekeeping, meal preparation, and assistance with appointments or outings.

Independence & Inclusion

  • Encourage residents to develop daily living, communication, and social skills.
  • Support participation in community, cultural, and recreational activities.

    • Advocacy & Engagement

  • Advocate for residents' rights, dignity, and preferences.
  • Promote meaningful community engagement and inclusion.

    • Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with DDS and HAJS policies.
  • Follow organizational procedures, safety standards, and care guidelines.

    • Teamwork & Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, and team members.
  • Attend required trainings and participate in professional development.

    • Qualifications

  • Education : High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Certifications : CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain before hire).
  • Clearances : Must pass background checks, FBI fingerprinting, and health screenings.
  • Experience : At least six (6) months of experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (or relevant life experience).
  • Skills : Empathy, patience, reliability, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Other Requirements :
  • Must be available for at least 4 shifts per month (weekend / evening).
  • Valid driver's license preferred if position includes transportation responsibilities.

    • Compensation

  • Starting Rate : $18.50 / hour
  • Enhanced Rate : $19.50 / hour when staff are licensed as a Trained Medication Employee (TME) and assigned to a shift that requires medication administration.

    • Typical PRN Shifts

  • Evenings : 3 : 00 PM - 12 : 00 AM (varies by site)
  • Weekends : Day and evening shifts available depending on program needs

    • Physical Demands

  • Ability to assist with lifting, transfers, and mobility supports.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform personal care tasks safely and respectfully.
