Overview :

The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, and internal control activities for the bank. This position ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial information, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the efficiency of accounting operations. The Controller plays a key leadership role in managing the bank’s financial close process, budgeting, and audits, and provides strategic insights to support decision-making by executive management.

Essential Functions :

Financial Management & Reporting

• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements (FDIC, FRB, etc.).
• Manage the general ledger, chart of accounts, and all accounting systems and processes – including Investments, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Accruals, and Prepaid Expenses.
• Ensure timely and accurate reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts and subsidiary ledgers.
• Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and financial adjustments.
• Support the CFO with board reports, management dashboards, and financial analyses.
• FHLMC Custodial Accounting management (monthly reconciliations)
• Manage data and assumption inputs for the ALM model
• Sales and Use Tax review and tax form preparation
• Oversee and ensure timely completion of annual vendor 1099 preparation
• Daily liquidity review / Correspondent Bank funding
