Job Description
This position provides specialized data management and analytics skills to the Ohio Longitudinal Data Archive (OLDA) team at the Center for Human Resource Research (CHRR) and the Ohio Education Research Center (OERC) at the John Glenn College of Public Affairs. The Quantitative Data Specialist will work as part of a multifunctional team of directors, public policy and social science researchers, database managers, and web developers to carry out the education and workforce research priorities of Ohio’s public agencies and the research and instructional priorities of the OERC.
The Quantitative Data Specialist applies knowledge of data to create computer programs for administrative data from government programs. The core responsibilities will include applying significant judgment in cleaning and documenting data, creating and merging data tables, , creating data visualizations, and supporting research activities involving time series and other analyses. The Quantitative Data Specialist will contribute to production of data for use by researchers and government personnel, dashboards for consumption by external and internal users, and reports / analysis for publication by research teams.
Work will require substantial reasoning and accuracy in a highly secure data facility.
This is for a term, 1-year appointment that is renewable for up to a total of three (3) years, pending performance and continued availability of funding.
Minimum Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant quantitative field such as Data Analytics or Social Sciences, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Required Qualifications
Knowledge of data management and data analysis in a research context, and familiarity with data visualization using programs such as R Shiny and Tableau. Experience with SQL is required. Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to communicate complex data analyses visually and / or in written text to a general audience, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Commitment to data security and data analytic accuracy is essential. Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to multi-task are required.
Relevant data management experience in a social science or policy research context. Additional experience with Stata, R, or Python is strongly preferred.

The pay range for this job profile is $58,700.00 - $77,200.00. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
