Automation Controls Engineer

Summary :
Our client is seeking an Automation Controls Engineer to evaluate, enhance, and maintain process control systems to ensure reliability and operational efficiency. This position works collaboratively across plant departments—including Maintenance and Operations—to provide daily technical support and lead improvements in automation and control processes.
Responsibilities :
- Provide daily technical support for process control systems, including troubleshooting and optimization.
- Configure and implement control modules, batch programs, and HMI graphics for new installations and system upgrades.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on Advanced Process Control, alarm management, and operator interface optimization.
- Manage the integration and programming of PLCs, HMIs, plant software, SQL databases, OPC servers, and plant networks.
- Develop and deliver training for end users on new or updated automation and control systems.
- Standardize control logic design, documentation, and operational procedures, ensuring accurate records of system configurations and changes.
- Act as the primary liaison for system startups and commissioning, ensuring complete documentation and training from outside contractors or integrators.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain automation equipment such as PLCs and HMIs using appropriate diagnostic tools and schematics.
- Monitor system performance to quickly detect and resolve issues affecting production.
- Maintain and update control servers, networks, and interfaces between automation systems and business applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and analyze process quality and performance.
- Provide technical training to team members and support cross-training efforts.
- Communicate effectively with management and colleagues through written reports and verbal updates.
- Maintain accurate records of work activities and system changes.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent military technical training.At least three (3) years of experience in industrial control systems development, maintenance, and troubleshooting.Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs.Proficiency with HMI / SCADA software such as GE iFix, Rockwell, Wonderware, ControlNet, and DeviceNet.Familiarity with Rockwell’s FactoryTalk platform.Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting abilities, including system administration and maintenance.Experience with IEC 61131-3-compliant programming languages (e.g., RSLogix 5000, Visual Basic, PHP).Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.Ability to adapt to evolving plant systems and technology changes.
