Business Development Representative
The business development representative will be responsible for driving new business, expanding our customer base, and increasing sales of our truck equipment products and services. This individual will work closely with key stakeholders, including fleet managers, purchasing personnel and other industry professionals to identify needs, present solutions, and close sales. Key responsibilities include:
- New business development: Identify and develop new business opportunities within the truck equipment industry, including lead generations, cold calling, networking, and building relationships with potential customers.
- Sales presentations & consultations: Conduct sales presentations to potential clients, highlighting the benefits and value of our truck equipment solutions. Offer consultative sales support to understand client needs and recommend appropriate products.
- Relationship building: Develop and maintain long-term relationships with existing and prospective customers, ensuring their satisfaction with our products and services. Provide exceptional customer service throughout the sales process.
- Sales strategy: Develop and implement targeted sales strategies to meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals. Track and report on sales progress, forecast revenue, and identify areas for improvement.
- Market research & competitor analysis: Stay up to date with industry trends, market conditions, and competitor offerings. Utilize market insights to adjust sales strategies and maintain a competitive edge.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including marketing, customer service, and operations, to ensure smooth order fulfillment and customer satisfaction.
- Product knowledge: Develop a thorough understanding of our truck equipment products and services, including features, benefits, and applications. Be able to effectively communicate this knowledge to prospective clients.
- Negotiation & closing: Lead contract negotiations and close sales deals in a timely and professional manner, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements.
- CRM & reporting: Use CRM software to track leads, manage opportunities, and maintain accurate records of sales activities. Provide regular sales reports to management.
Minimum qualifications include:
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in relationship sales with an emphasis in business development, sales, or account management, preferably in the truck equipment, automotive, or related industries. Experience in selling heavy equipment or vehicles is a plus.
- Industry knowledge: Strong understanding of the trucking industry, including trends, challenges, and key players. Familiarity with truck equipment products and their applications is highly desirable.
- Sales skills: Excellent sales and negotiation skills with the ability to build rapport and close deals. Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently.
- Communication skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to a wide range of audiences, from decision-makers to technical teams.
- Customer focus: Strong customer service orientation with a focus on understanding client needs and delivering tailored solutions.
- Tech-savvy: Comfortable using CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and systems. Ability to identify challenges and provide creative solutions to clients.
- Travel: Ability to travel as needed to meet clients, attend industry events, and explore new business opportunities.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience in the truck equipment industry or a related field.
- Degree in Business or Communications or related field.
- Existing relationships with fleet managers, logistics providers, or transportation companies.
- Knowledge of truck equipment financing options and related services.
This position works remotely during the workday. This role requires a large amount of driving and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or type; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and sit for long periods of time. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Up to 50% travel. Ability to acquire Class B CDL within 3 months of hire.
