Primary Purpose :
This position is responsible for managing and supporting district-wide files and database systems, enterprise integrations, including the performance, integrity, and security of those systems. In this role, they will configure and maintain database servers and processes. Monitor the system's health and performance, ensuring high-performance levels, availability, sustainability, and security. Plan and develop database architecture, logical and physical design, automation, documentation, installations, backup and recovery concepts, and troubleshooting of any database performance or data integrity issues.

Education / Certification :
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred)
- Microsoft certifications (preferred)
Experience :
Five years of hands on experience with SQL Server as a database administratorFive years of experience with Windows Server administration, tuning and troubleshootingFive years of experience with SQL Server backup / restore, schedulers, etcFive years of experience using Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologiesUnderstanding of concepts of "High Availability," such as Always-on, Clustering, Database Mirroring and / or other technologiesSpecial Knowledge / Skills :
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in systems architecture, application development, data warehousing, data modeling, and data managementKnowledge and experience developing comprehensive DB architecture, implementation and upgrade plans for applications DatabaseAbility to extract data from various sources and connect, import and transform data for business analysis and intelligenceAbility to relate business goals to data elements and structures to support performance measurementsKnowledge of research techniques, methods and procedures to develop best practices and resolve technical issuesExcellent verbal and written communications skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities effectivelyAbility to develop and maintain effective working relationshipsMajor Responsibilities and Duties :
Ensure integrity, high availability and optimum performance of Production database systems by providing technical support and maintenancePartner with application teams to review their current database estates, analyze business drivers and technical KPIs, review modernization plans and help them select a proper technology solution for data storage needsDesign, develop, and maintain ETL processes for but not limited to the data warehouse, linked servers, SSIS packages, third party ETL interfacesManage data loads, security, and integration of the data warehouse platform for BI reportingSupport BI tools and database updates through development, testing, debugging and documentationMonitor reports and job response times; tune queries, stored procedures, and functions to optimize and improve performanceSupport integrated ITIL processes with Incident, Change and Problem managementDevelop plans to resolve problems and prevent them from recurring; maintains high service levels for the user community in accordance with SLAsEnsure all changes are well communicated, coordinated, and documentedMaintain up-to-date documentation, including diagrams, on all BI / applications development, database systems, integration services, and connectivityBe customer service oriented and maintain a professional approach regarding all district mattersPerform R&D, remain knowledgeable of emerging trends in technology, and keep abreast of innovative practicesAttain and keep current, relevant technology certificationsPerform special projects, after-hours support and upgrades, and other related dutiesFollow all rules, regulations, and policies of Plano ISD and follow directives from supervisorFollow attendance policy as assigned by supervisorPerform other functions that may be assigned by the Administration and / or supervisorWorking Conditions : Mental Demands :
