Job Description Job Description We are seeking a motivated and skilled experienced Commercial Electrical Apprentice to join our growing team. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of a Journeyman or Master Electrician on various commercial projects, applying their accumulated knowledge and skills to perform complex electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs. This role is a crucial step toward obtaining a Journeyman Electrician license and requires dedication to safety, quality, and professional development. Key Responsibilities Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of various electrical systems and equipment in commercial settings, adhering strictly to the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations. Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to determine project scope, layouts, and specifications. Measure, cut, bend, and install various types of conduit (EMT, rigid, PVC) using hand benders and hydraulic benders. Pull and terminate electrical wiring in junction boxes, panels, switches, and other electrical devices and fixtures. Perform testing and troubleshooting of electrical systems and components using diagnostic tools such as voltmeters, ammeters, and ohmmeters to identify and correct problems. Work with voltages up to and including 3-phase 480V systems. Operate and work safely from ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts, and bucket trucks at various heights. Follow all company and OSHA safety standards and procedures, including Lockout / Tagout procedures, and ensure a safe work environment is maintained. Maintain accurate work logs, records, and time tracking documentation. Communicate effectively with the Journeyman Electrician, other team members, and potentially clients and other trades on the job site. Keep tools and equipment in good working condition and maintain a clean and organized work area. Required Qualifications and Skills Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience as an Electrical Apprentice, preferably in a commercial setting. Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical codes. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documents, blueprints, and schematics. Experience with advanced tasks such as motor controls, panel work, and three-phase systems is highly desirable. High school diploma or GED equivalent. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team. Must possess basic hand tools for the trade. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to various job sites. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and perform physical tasks such as standing for long periods, bending, crawling, and working in various weather conditions. Commitment to ongoing education and completing the required classroom instruction for your apprenticeship program.
