Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Construction Company
Location : Georgia

Reports To : Ownership Group
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with a strong background in the construction industry to lead our financial operations. This role requires deep knowledge of construction accounting, Work-In-Progress (WIP) reporting , over / under billings , cash flow management, cost controls, and profitability analysis. The CFO will provide strategic financial leadership, ensure financial accuracy across all projects and departments, and support company growth with disciplined financial oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy aligned with growth objectives.
- Provide executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning.
- Advise ownership on financial risks, opportunities, and investment decisions.
- Implement financial policies, internal controls, and procedures to ensure accuracy and accountability.
Construction Accounting & Reporting
Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.Lead the preparation and accuracy of WIP schedules , ensuring proper revenue recognition.Maintain accurate over / under billing calculations and reporting to leadership.Manage job cost accounting systems, ensuring correct allocation of labor, equipment, and overhead.Ensure compliance with GAAP and industry-specific accounting standards.Cash Flow, Capital & Risk Management
Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital to support operations and project growth.Oversee banking relationships, bonding capacity, credit facilities, and insurance programs.Mitigate financial risks related to projects, subcontractors, and economic shifts.Assess capital expenditures, equipment purchases, and financing solutions.Profitability & Performance Analysis
Conduct detailed profitability assessments on projects, divisions, and overall company performance.Develop and refine financial dashboards, KPIs, and performance benchmarks.Partner with operations and project management to improve job margins and cost controls.Review project budgets, change orders, and cost trends to identify risks or opportunities.Leadership, Team Development & Collaboration
Lead and mentor the accounting, finance, and administrative teams.Work closely with project managers, estimators, and leadership to ensure financial clarity and discipline.Present financial performance to executive leadership with clear insights and recommendations.Support company goals around operational efficiency, margin protection, and sustainable growth.Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred).CPA or CMA strongly preferred.10+ years of finance leadership experience , with at least 5 years in construction .Deep expertise in :Work-In-Progress (WIP) reporting
