Controller

Description We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Controller to oversee financial operations within a construction environment in Essington, Pennsylvania. This role involves managing the accounting functions for multiple projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and providing accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction accounting and a strong understanding of job costing and project financials.

Responsibilities :

• Manage general ledger, project accounting, and job cost systems to ensure accurate financial tracking for multiple construction projects.
• Develop, analyze, and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports to support effective financial planning.
• Supervise accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate project billing and payments.
• Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field teams to ensure the accuracy of financial data and adherence to deadlines.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and project-specific reports, including work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, for management review.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and industry regulations to maintain financial integrity.
• Support financial audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Drive process improvements in contract administration, change order tracking, and project closeout procedures.
• Monitor cash flow and job profitability, addressing any variances promptly to maintain project efficiency.
• Train and guide accounting staff in construction-specific procedures and the use of relevant accounting software. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction accounting or controlling, preferably within electrical or specialty contracting.
• In-depth knowledge of job cost accounting, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, and construction billing practices.
• Proficiency with construction-specific accounting software, such as Sage, Viewpoint, or similar tools.
• Strong organizational and communication skills to effectively collaborate with various teams.
• High level of attention to detail and the ability to solve complex financial problems.
• Experience with subcontractor payments, lien waivers, and insurance documentation.
• Familiarity with preparing and analyzing work-in-progress (WIP) schedules.
