JOB GOAL :

To support classroom teachers in improving instruction by increasing rigor consistency student engagement differentiation of instruction and utilization of performance assessments. Provide a stable resource for professional development progress monitoring and student data analysis to help the schools improve instruction and student achievement across all groups in the assigned subject area.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :

Salary based on a teachers 9.5-Month Teaching Contract month contract (195 days) plus benefits package. NOTE : Precise placement on the salary range will be determined based upon experience and education.

FLSA : EXEMPT This position is reviewed annually and is contingent upon grant funding and / or the needs identified within the school site.

TEACHER SALARY SCHEDULE

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Valid Arkansas teachers license is required relative to the assigned subject.
  • Bachelors Degree in the assigned subject area is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a teacher in the assigned subject
  • Experience in successfully teaching inquiry-based science and using standards-based resources with working knowledge of next-generation science standards. Experience in using performance-based measures to assess student learning.
  • Evidence of educational leadership in curriculum development professional development and / or facilitation of the work of others. Evidence of proficiency with hand-held technology. Evidence of ability to work with diverse student populations. Strong interpersonal skills. Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.   • Collaborates on a regular basis with staff principals teachers and parents to improve the science program.
  • Collaborates on a regular basis with teachers to ensure consistent delivery of the science curriculum maps.
  • Helps improve instruction by engaging teachers in intensive professional development and promotes a school-based professional community.
  • Monitors provides technical assistance and evaluates the instructional programs to ensure the highest level of quality.
  • Assists in developing administering and utilizing science assessments to track student achievement and to inform instruction at the district school and classroom levels.
  • Assists with resource procurement and distribution from the Science Materials Center.
  • Participates and assists with vertical teaming efforts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Mental Functions Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :

    While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand walk go up and down stairs operate foot and hand controls use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and / or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound near and far vision depth perception handling and working with educational materials and / or objects and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period and to be physically present and at assigned work with only infrequent unexcused absences during the contract year. Additional technical skills knowledge and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Describes physical conditions of this position) :

    Sedentary Work Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and / or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift carry push pull or move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

    Light Work Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and / or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. If the use of arm and / or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time the job is rated as Light Work.

    Medium Work Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and / or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and / or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

    Heavy Work Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and / or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and / or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

    Very Heavy Work Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and / or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and / or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

    PHYSICAL ACTIVITY :

    Sitting

    Resting with the body supported by the buttocks or thighs.

    Standing

    Ascending or descending ladders stairs scaffolding ramps poles etc. using feet and legs and / or hands and arms.

    Balancing

    Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking standing or crouching on narrow slippery or erratically moving surfaces.

    Bending

    Lowering the body forward from the waist.

    Stooping

    Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist through the use of the lower extremities and back muscles.

    Kneeling

    Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.

    Crouching

    Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.

    Crawling

    Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet

    Twisting

    Moving body from the waist using a turning motion.

    Reaching

    Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction

    Pushing

    Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward downward or outward.

    Pulling

    Using upper extremities to drag haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.

    Lifting

    Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position- to-position through the use of the upper extremities and back muscles .

    Finger Dexterity

    Picking pinching typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm.

    Grasping

    Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

    Feeling

    Perceiving attributes of objects such as size shape temperature or texture by touching with skin particularly that of fingertips

    Repetitive Motions

    Substantial and continuous movements of the wrists hands and / or fingers.

    Talking

    Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed accurately loudly or quickly.

    Hearing Acuity

    The ability of perceive speech and other environmental sounds at normal loudness levels.

    Visual Acuity
