Teaching Assistant, Organic Chemistry Lab (25 / 26)

Specific Duties

Teaching assistants will :

• Come prepared and on time or earlier to their respective lab with proper PPE and with knowledge of the experiment and ready to answer student’s questions.
• Must attend the weekly lab meetings.
• TA must remain proactive in labs and observe / keep an eye on students to ensure that they are following proper laboratory techniques and safety. They must remain vigilant at all times and keep an eye on the student’s use of the chemicals during the experiments to prevent or catch cross contamination.
• TAs must communicate with the Lab instructors / Lab Coordinators / Lab Managers regarding any concerns with the chemicals or lab safety.
• Ensure the Maintenance of the lab’s cleanliness during their respective lab and conduct lab clean up (putting away equipment or cleaning glassware, keep chemicals in order, etc.), and sometimes help set up (prepare waste containers or pipettes, help with preparation of chemicals, etc.)
• Grade assignments within a reasonable turnaround time
