Registered Dietitian

This is for a future opening.

STGi is currently seeking a Registered Dietitian to provide services at the Oregon Veterans Home in The Dalles, OR.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that residents’ clinical nutrition needs are provided by the food and nutrition services department.

Required Skills

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• Must have, as a minimum, one (1) year of experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, nursing care facility or other related medical facility.

• Must have training in cost control, food management and food safety.

Required Experience

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

• Must possess, as a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in a nationally accredited nutrition or dietetics program from an accredited college or university.

• Has completed at least 900 hours of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian or nutrition professional.

• Is licensed or certified as a dietitian or nutrition professional by the state or is recognized as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration or its successor organization.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.

• Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.

• Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

• Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

• Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with the residents, personnel, and support agencies.

• Must meet the general health requirements set forth by this facility that include a medical and physical examination.

• Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and, at times, hostile people within the facility.

• Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.

• May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
