We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manufacturing Test Engineer to join our dynamic team in Woodridge, Illinois. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the quality and reliability of our products through the design, implementation, and execution of comprehensive testing strategies.
The Senior Manufacturing Test Engineer applies both standard and advanced test engineering techniques to bring new products into production with high quality, while ensuring production goals are met. This position is responsible for continuously improving test processes and manufacturing test systems, developing clear objectives for complex assignments, and effectively leading teams and projects.
You will also be accountable for identifying and implementing test process changes that detect manufacturing issues, improve test system reliability, and reduce overall test time.
Essential Functions
Quote, design, and develop manufacturing test solutions for new product introductions.
Develop software (C#, C, NI TestStand) to control test instruments and units under test based on product test requirements.
Demonstrate ability to develop both hardware and software for production test solutions.
Interpret MySQL database schema and write database queries.
Provide ongoing support for existing products, including ECOs, yield improvement, reliability enhancements, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal project stakeholders.
Manage project scopes and timelines while coordinating activities with project managers.
Collaborate with production engineers and supervisors to integrate test systems into manufacturing processes.
Analyze test performance data and leverage production feedback to drive test improvement opportunities.
Develop and interpret test requirements and determine necessary test equipment.
Identify, diagnose, and resolve hardware and software issues.
Compile and interpret Gage R&R and Cpk studies.
Support root cause analysis of field return issues and implement additional test coverage as needed.
Create documentation outlining test design concepts and operator instructions.
Experience with manufacturing printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA).
Participate in peer reviews of test solutions.
Desired Attributes
Experience with vehicle communication bus protocols (CAN, LIN, J1939).
Experience developing tests for RF devices (Cellular, GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi).
Working knowledge of MSA, Six Sigma, SPC, root cause analysis, lean manufacturing, and general PC skills (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Ability to complete projects through effective leadership, teamwork, and continuous process improvement.
Required Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or Engineering Technology.
4+ years of related work experience.
Required experience : C#, C / CVI, TestStand, and LabView.
Full-time, exempt position working on-site.
