Custodian - GICC

Job Title

Essential Functions

Independent judgment is required to identify, select and apply the most appropriate of available guidelines and procedures as well as interpret precedents. This position is responsible for the general maintenance and cleaning of the Georgia International Convention Center. Duties include the routine and regular cleaning, sanitizing, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming of floors and making minor equipment and facility repairs.

Daily tasks :

• Daily garbage collection and disposal.
• Vacuum, strip, wax and buff floors.
• Operates power-cleaning equipment, mechanical cleaners and polishers; mixes cleaning agents as directed.
• Vacuums, spot cleans and shampoos carpets; empties and cleans waste receptacles.
• Dusts, waxes, washes and polishes furniture, counters, woodwork and metalwork.
• Cleans and washes windows, walls, windowsills and screens, as assigned.
• Cleans restrooms and replenishes supplies.
• Wet and dry mop floors.
• Moves and arranges furniture and equipment as required.
• Performs basic maintenance repairs on buildings.
• Orders and maintains inventory of custodial supplies as directed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that logically relate to the position.
