Qualifications

Education and Experience : Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school and experience equivalent to five years full-time store-keeping experience.

Substitution of Experience for Education : Qualifying store-keeping experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Necessary Special Qualifications : A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required for some positions.

Overview

Under general supervision, is responsible for storekeeping work of unusual difficulty and supervisory work of average difficulty. An incumbent in this classification is responsible for the largest and most complex of storekeeping and warehousing operations; and performs related work as required. This is the highest storekeeping class in state service. The class differs from that of Storekeeper 2 in that an incumbent of the latter operates a store or warehouse of lesser magnitude or reports to an incumbent of this class.

Responsibilities

• Conducts performance evaluations for all assigned staff. Provides guidance and direction for daily activities and necessary cross training.
• Plans and implements warehouse safety and security policies. Conducts cost analysis for the warehouse regarding inventory, processing orders, and generating reports.
• Schedules and monitors physical inventory counts to ensure accurate stock and records are maintained. Conducts blind counts and compares with computer counts to verify periodic checks are conducted.
• Communicates daily work assignments to assigned staff during morning briefings. Issues shipping instructions and provides routing information to ensure delivery times and locations are coordinated.
• Provides excellent customer service and investigates customer complaints to resolve issues. Responds directly to customers in order to gather information and resolve any dissatisfaction.
• Retrieves contract and vendor information from Edison to place orders for restocking. Examines incoming equipment and stock to ensure no damage occurred during shipping.
• Verifies order accuracy prior to shipment comparing items pulled to shipping documents. Reviews order forms for product information on specialized orders to pull, pack, and distribute.
• Inspects equipment when necessary to make recommendations for repairs or replacement.
