Summary: The Therapeutic Recreation Activity Leader leads activities in both Town House Assisted Living and is a back-up for Country Cottage Memory Care Program. This leader will create and lead appropriate social activities while maintaining the respect and dignity of each person. This position will help with transitioning residents to the memory care program. This position will be in tune to the personal care needs (self-esteem) needs and support the Emotional Health of the residents with declining memory impairments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Reports to Director of Recreation and Country Cottage Coordinator
Has Strong Communication Skills and Ability to Interact with residents/some with memory impairments.
Is able to problem solve
Has Positive interpersonal Skills, is energetic and personable with others
Able to motivate residents to participate in activities
Is sensitive to the needs of each individual
Helps residents to use equipment and supplies such as art materials, games
Plan and direct residents with creative arts program, music activities, cooking and baking activities
Leads in indoor and outdoor activities, music and exercises
Plan and Escort residents on community trips (shopping, lunch outings, parks and museums)
Ability to Support Challenging Behaviors in Senior Population
Able to Create monthly calendar for Supportive Living Program
Promote, organize and run all activities
Able to work individually and part of a team
Ability to work in secure memory program and Assisted Living Program
Able to be flexible to meet with changing needs of resident population
Enthusiastic and positive about role
Assists in planning programs for which helps provide socialization, relaxation and recreation.
Qualifications:
Activity Director (AD) Certified Therapeutic Recreation Leader preferred. (CTRS)
Experience with Memory Care/Dementia residents required.
At Least one weekend Day required.
Some evening hours/flexibility required.
