We are currently hiring aSENIOR SYSTEMS ENGINEER (NETWORK)to provide advanced network engineering and systems integration support for a Government customer.

Position Location:

This position is located on-site in Fredericksburg, VA.

Position Description:

The Senior Systems Engineer (Network) will provide advanced network engineering and systems integration support for classified and unclassified DoD environments. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, and sustainment of LAN/WAN infrastructure, including Cisco and Juniper-based systems, VoIP, and secure communications. The engineer will work closely with cybersecurity, systems administration, and project management teams to ensure resilient, secure, and high-performance network operations in support of mission-critical systems. This position requires a proactive leader with deep technical expertise and a strong understanding of DoD IT governance and security frameworks.

Required Skills:

• Design, implement, and maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure using Cisco, Juniper, and other enterprise-grade technologies
• Engineer and support secure network architectures including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and Zero Trust implementations
• Perform network systems engineering, including physical and logical design, configuration, and documentation
• Support network operations and maintenance (O&M), including troubleshooting, patching, and performance tuning
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with DoD STIGs, IAVMs, and other directives
• Provide support for network-related aspects of cloud integration, virtualization, and hybrid infrastructure
• Participate in Change Advisory Boards (CABs), Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), and technical working groups
• Respond to incidents and outages, including after-hours support for mission-essential operations
• Develop and maintain network diagrams, architecture documentation, and configuration baselines
• Support Protected Distribution Systems (PDS), fiber/copper plant design, and wireless infrastructure

Required Experience:

• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in relation to design and implementation in local area network (LAN) wide area network (WAN) corporate environments using Cisco, Juniper, TCP/IP and VoIP technologies with routers, switches, fiber optics, firewalls, and capable plant designs
• Familiarity with DoD IT governance, including STIGs, RMF, and DoD 8570.01-M compliance
• Ability to design and implement secure, scalable, and resilient network solutions
• Experience with network monitoring tools and incident response
• Strong documentation and communication skills

Education:

• Bachelors degree in Coputer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Required Certifications:

• DoD 8570.01-M compliant certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, or equivalent)
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent preferred
• ITIL v4 Foundation or higher preferred
