PCU Travel Nurse Job Details

Location : Johnson City, TN 37604 (Tennessee nursing jobs)

Unit : Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Position Type : Travel Registered Nurse (RN) Contract

Start Date : December 7, 2025

End Date : March 8, 2026

Assignment Length : 13 weeks

Shift : 12-hour nights (18 : 30 - 07 : 00)

Weekly Hours : 36

Estimated Weekly Salary : $2020 - $2070

Patient Ratio : 1 : 5

Scheduling : Self-scheduling; weekend coverage required

Orientation : 16 hours (non-billable)

Floating : Required to similar units as needed

No on-call required

PCU RN Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Tennessee or compact state; must be in-hand at submission)

Certifications : AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, NIHSS (required for PCU nursing jobs)

Epic electronic charting experience preferred

Trauma Level I hospital experience preferred

Must reside at least 100 miles from the facility

BSN required for international travel nurses

Flu vaccine required (medical / religious exemptions considered)

Ability to complete drug testing 12-14 days prior to start date

Facial hair must comply with CDC fit testing guidelines

Willingness to float to other units as needed

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, compassionate patient care to adults in a 37-bed Progressive Care Unit

Monitor and manage cardiac drips (no titration), vasoactive drips (no titration), and insulin drips

Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and cardiac dysrhythmias

Administer blood products and manage central lines, PICC lines, chest tubes, and feeding tubes

Utilize non-invasive airway management, high flow nasal cannula, CPAP / BIPAP, and oxygen therapy

Participate in rapid response and code teams as needed

Support and mentor nursing students as part of the clinical education team

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV therapy, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and more

Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Epic (preferred)

Adhere to all hospital policies, infection control, and patient safety protocols
