Position Summary : Join our dedicated team as a Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). In this role, you will provide exceptional, patient-centered care, leveraging the nursing process to ensure the best outcomes for our patients. You will coordinate care by collaborating with an interdisciplinary team and communicate effectively about patients' clinical conditions, responding promptly to any changes.
Education / Certification : Candidates must be graduates of an accredited school of nursing and maintain a current Registered Nurse license. Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required upon hire, with the expectation to maintain competency throughout your employment.
Competencies : Effective communication in English, both verbally and in writing, along with basic computer skills are essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and continuous reassessments of patients' conditions and care needs, addressing psychosocial, physical, educational, and cultural aspects.
- Manage and educate patients and families regarding pain management using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Document assessments, interventions, and evaluations of patient responses in a timely manner.
- Follow medication administration guidelines to prevent errors, demonstrating knowledge of medications based on patient age and clinical condition.
- Provide safe patient care that optimizes safety and promotes positive outcomes.
- Use critical thinking skills to prioritize tasks and delegate effectively.
- Develop and implement individualized teaching plans based on patient learning needs, and evaluate the effectiveness of these plans.
- Exhibit autonomous practice aligned with evidence-based standards, pursuing personal and professional growth.
- Serve as a professional role model and mentor, demonstrating knowledge of age-appropriate care for diverse patient populations.
- Assist physicians with procedures in the peri-anesthesia care setting, including airway management and monitoring line placements.
- Provide accurate reports of patients' conditions for safe transitions of care.
