Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Quality Control Specialist I is responsible for collecting and processing data into the California SEER*DMS Cancer Registry database, by performing accurate and timely matching, resolution of edit errors, linkage and consolidation of data submitted by reporting facilities and other regional sources; resolving modified records; processing electronic path reports; abstracting data based on records from physician's offices and various other sources; performing tasks related to death clearance, including screening and classification, and updating of case data. The Quality Control Specialist I may also assist with regional and statewide tasks as necessary.

This is a high productivity position and the incumbent must be able to maintain productivity goals. This is a reading-intensive position as nearly all aspects of this position are performed on a computer and from reading online source material. The incumbent must be able to work independently.

This is a regular full-time, time-limited position located in Sacramento, CA, and is expected to last through June 30, 2026, with a possibility of an extension contingent on funding availability. At PHI, a time-limited position is defined as regular employment, but with an expected end date of no more than one year from the beginning of the position. In rare circumstances, time-limited positions may be extended to a maximum total length of up to eighteen (18) months from the start of the employee's original time-limited position, or be converted to a regular position that is no longer time-limited (e.g., if the original grant/contract is extended or if additional funding becomes available).

This position may allow for remote work within the continental United States and is expected to work during core business hours for the Pacific time zone. Some travel to perform field work or attend educational meetings may be required. Candidates must be located in the continental U.S. with preference given to California based applicants.

The typical hiring range for this position is from $70,296 (minimum) to $78,199 (the start of the second quartile), based on 100% FTE.
