Job Summary
The role focuses on designing and developing a high-efficiency assembly line from the ground up. You'll be working through capacity planning, station layout, ergonomics, tooling needs, and capital planning while ensuring the line aligns with modern lean manufacturing practices. Clear communication is essential, since this position collaborates closely with cross-functional teams and previous candidates were declined due to communication challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Calculate demand at capacity and determine the correct number of assembly stations.
Build and manage Excel models to drive station planning and cycle-time analysis.
Review OMS and work content to streamline tasks or combine stations where appropriate.
Create and modify AutoCAD drawings to define line layout, spacing, and workflow.
Ensure ergonomic design, proper work-cell spacing, and smooth operator movement.
Identify required utilities, tooling, automation, and equipment to support production targets.
Develop and support capital expenditure (Capex) estimates tied to the new line design.
Oversee project planning activities related to line build-out and implementation.
Apply line balancing and takt-time principles to optimize throughput.
Use JIT, CSM, and DFT philosophies to guide layout and process decisions.
Collaborate with teams working in PLC, automation, machining, welding, assembly, time studies, and torque tooling.
Leverage Core Tree methodologies for determining Build IDs.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field (must be verifiable).
5+ years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience.
Strong background in mobile equipment or automotive / heavy equipment environments.
Proven experience designing assembly lines from initial concept to readiness.
Solid understanding of line balancing, takt time, and related industrial engineering tools.
Demonstrated knowledge of Lean principles and continuous improvement methods.
High proficiency in Excel, including advanced spreadsheet development.
Strong AutoCAD skills for layout and detail creation.
Familiarity with PLC systems, automation concepts, machining, welding processes, assembly methods, and time studies.
Experience contributing to Capex planning and project execution.
Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written).
