Description

The College of the Arts and Media, School of Journalism, and the office of the Vice Provost for Educational Initiatives and Innovation (VPEII) invite applications for a Budget Analyst III to oversee fiscal operations for the School of Journalism and provide support to the fiscal operations of the VPEII office. This is a shared position with 60% of time dedicated to the School of Journalism and 40% dedicated to VPEII, with reporting lines to the Directors of Finance & Personnel for both departments. The successful candidate will work both independently and collaboratively within both offices and ensure compliance with university financial policies.

Duties and Responsibilities

Analyze, reconcile & resolve discrepancies for state, designated, auxiliary and grant budgets.

Track and manage transactions for department revenue and expenses using Banner, U-Approve, UM Data Warehouse (UMDW) and GrizMart.

Check accuracy of figures, calculations, and spending by departments.

Track pro-card receipts, pro-card redistribution, and maintain a consistent pro-card procedure.

Payroll collection and entry.

Assist with travel paperwork and reimbursement.

Act as department liaison with Human Resources Services for recruitment and compensation processes.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma and two (2) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with Microsoft 365 suite of productivity tools.

Demonstrated knowledge of professional budget management practices and accounting principles.

Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated organizational, time-management, multi-tasking skills, problem-solving and ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail.

Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, work independently and as part of a team effectively.

Excellent customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or a related field.

Previous experience working in higher education.

Familiarity with UM systems to include Banner, UMDW, U-Approve, InfoGriz, and GrizMart.

Knowledge of UM, state, federal and accounting practices and budget processes.

Compensation Title : Budget Analyst III

Work Schedule :

Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8 : 00 am to 5 : 00 pm, 12 months / year

Probationary Period :

Six (6) months minimum
