What To Expect :

As an R&D Experimental Equipment Mechanic Supplemental at the Peoria Proving Grounds you can expect to work on being an integral part of tomorrows equipment. This position will expand and utilize a widely diversified group of skills.

From day to day you may work in the assembly of an entire prototype machine the buildup of sub-assemblies that include modifications to current production models or minor changes to a configuration in preparation for machine test activity for our EXD Division. You will work from blueprints sketches computer generated models and written instructions from the supervisor or engineer. Working self-directed you will often plan the method and sequence of the assembly. Expect to work with hand tools portable power tools power presses simple machine tools and powered cranes to assemble parts into a complete unit making alterations and hand fitting parts when necessary along with the use of various precision gaging tools to check accuracy of assembly and fitting operations.

Required Minimum Qualification for Consideration :

You will bring a combined 2 years of :

Heavy equipment maintenance repair and disassembly / reassembly

OR a two-year degree in automotive or diesel-powered equipment technology.

OR a combination of Military experienceas a diesel mechanic with militaryequipment / vehicles and other maintenance related activities on related heavy equipment.

Desired Qualifications Top Candidates Will Have :

Two-year technical degree within the disciplines of automotive technology agricultural technology heavy equipment technology or diesel mechanic technology

4 combined years of mechanic work experience in the heavy construction equipment or farming machinery industry

Type : Supplemental Temporary long term full time hours

Shift : 1st Shift

Hours : Mon-Thurs07 : 00AM 03 : 00PM; Fri 07 : 00-11 : 00AM

Compensation : Grade 5; Step 1 $29.41HR UAW- Union Participation

Compensation Range : $29.41 - $31.51

Benefits : This position is eligible for limited benefits.
