Dental Hygienist

The Dental Hygienist is responsible for performing oral prophylaxis and topical preventative treatments for patients (e.g., fluoride and sealants). Under the direction of the Director of Dental, the Dental Hygienist will support the Dentist with X-rays, surveys and mouth charting.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

• Provides reasonable and prudent dental care for CS-HHC patients. Treats patients and staff respectfully, courteously and appropriately
• Performs oral prophylaxis, fluoride treatments and sealants
• Supports the Dentist with X-rays, surveys and mouth charting
• Maintains the recall system
• Participates in hygiene audits as required
• Represents the Dental Department on various committees as assigned
• Instructs patients in good oral hygiene habits and after care for dental treatments rendered
• Responsible for directing and discussing dental hygiene procedures with patients and when appropriate with their parents or care givers
• Assists the Senior Hygienist in making schedules
• Contributes to departmental planning and direction
• Performs other duties as necessary
