Civil Engineer - Development

POSITION INFORMATION DGL is looking for an entry level civil engineer to enhance the qualifications of our rapidly expanding Site Development Department.

As a multi-disciplinary engineering firm, success in this position will require an individual to use prescribed methods, standard techniques and practices to perform various engineering assignments.

• Reports to Development Project Managers
• 0-3 years of previous experience in civil design engineering
• Full-time, Non-Exempt PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist Development Team with production duties such as design, plan preparation and bid documents
• Perform technical engineering work associated with land development and / or water resources :
• Stormwater Management Design, Site Grading, Erosion and Sediment Control Design
• Complete various land development and environmental permitting applications
• Perform engineering calculations and prepare plans / specifications in accordance with project requirements for agency / municipal review
• Keep direct supervisor promptly informed of key / significant issues or concerns
• Communicate with project leaders to gain a thorough understanding of project scope and coordinate with engineers on project requirements
• Review shop drawings, RFIs and assist with responses to other construction questions SKILL SET
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and contract specifications
• Experience in stormwater management design, site grading, erosion and sediment control design and building code permitting processes
• Proficiency with computer-based design tools (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, REVIT) & familiarity with HydroCAD or other stormwater modeling software
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills and ability to interact professionally with coworkers, clients, contractors and management
• Ability to work and balance priorities amongst multiple projects
• Outgoing, self-motivated team player
• Proven success in delivering high quality project submittals
• Valid Driver’s License required - some tasks may require travel.
• Time and mileage would be reimbursed (at current DOT mileage rates) based on current policies.
• EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution required
• Engineering Intern (E.I.) Certification preferred, or in progress with ability to gain certification within 6 months of employment BENEFITS
