SCHEDULE DETAILS : Full-time (subject to emergency call-in) / 12 month position / PEERS

Position Summary

The Groundskeeper is responsible for the care of the lawns, trees, shrubs and flowers. Other major responsibilities include treating and removing the ice and snow on sidewalks, entrances, steps and parking lots, as well as the care and maintenance of equipment to carry out these tasks and all other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Duties

• Mow and trim lawns in assigned areas.
• Lawn maintenance, such as reseeding and weed control in assigned areas.
• Apply chemical feeding and pest control.
• Perform landscaping duties.
• Remove ice and snow from walk ways, steps and parking areas.
• Keeps campus area, building entries, parking lots and lawns free of trash and debris.
• Perform bending, squatting, climbing, twisting, kneeling, and reaching both to ground and overhead on a daily basis.
• Report and correct safety hazards.
• Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
• Comply with college policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including attending college functions, including serving on committees and attending community events.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT : (The conditions herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.)

Environment : Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions. Requires extended periods of time viewing computer monitor or standing; may require adjustment of schedule to include some evening and / or weekends; may encounter occasional exposure to inclement weather during travel.

Walking to apply chemical feed and pest control substances to lawns, trees, shrubs and outside of facilities.

Environmental Conditions

Environmental conditions noted include the employees working in locations that include Outdoors, Ground Vehicle and Confined Space. Employees in these locations need to work under Extreme Cold, Extreme Heat and Extreme Humidity. Exposures noted include High Noise, Dust, Fumes, Smoke, Vibration, Slippery Surfaces and Moving Machinery.
