Important Information :

Must be at least 17 years old to apply.

As a Swim Teacher you will provide private and group swim lessons for individuals of all ages and skill levels. Your goal is to create a fun positive learning environment that encourages growth and improvement.

Responsibilities :

As a Water Safety Instructor you will create an educational safe and welcoming experience for all participants.

Memorize and use Charleston Swim Schools approved curriculum and log students progress.

Stay aware of pool hazards and maintain constant supervision of students.

Arrive on time for each lesson and ensure you have reliable transportation (lesson locations may vary as you will travel to the students local pools).

Be alert and prepared to provide first aid or handle emergencies (first aid kits are provided).

Foster a safe yet challenging environment for student growth.

Adapt your teaching methods to accommodate the age experience and ability of participants to help them meet course objectives.

As a swim teacher participate in regular in-service training sessions.

Communicate effectively with supervisors students and parents.

Complete additional duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications :

Must have experience in aquatics such as swim team participation lifeguarding or instructing.

Teachers must be positive enthusiastic accountable and communicative. Experience with children is essential.

Must be able to perform all five strokes and float.

CPR and First Aid certification is required or must have held it previously and be willing to renew within two weeks of hiring.

Lifeguard training is preferred.

Water Safety Instructor certification is a plus but not required.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills :

Thorough understanding and application of swimming and water safety skills.

Knowledge of teaching swimming and water safety skills.

Familiarity with facility characteristics rules policies and procedures.

Strong leadership instruction and public relations skills.

Excellent communication and decision-making skills.

Compensation & Benefits :

Starting pay : $20-24 per hour with 4-20 hours per week (fewer hours in the fall and spring more in the summer).

We are looking for teachers who can teach Saturdays during our Indoor schedule (October 13th-May 31st).
