About the team and position
The Vehicle Data & Inventory team manages Carvana's massive vehicle data systems where our ultimate goal is to generate advanced insights as well as accurate and actionable intelligence on every vehicle available in the US car market. We develop APIs, pipelines, algorithms, architectures, and applications to support all stages of vehicle acquisition and merchandising.
What you’ll be doing
- Design, develop, maintain, and deploy complex back-end solutions using Go and cloud services (Azure, AWS).
- Work with cloud-based systems, pipelines, and resources.
- Perform data storage and persistence container querying using SQL, NoSQL, and caching technologies.
- Develop loosely coupled solutions that are scalable, testable, modularized, and reusable.
- Work in a team environment using Agile project approaches (Scrum, Kanban).
- Participate in all Scrum activities such as creating user stories, sprint planning, and sprint retrospectives.
- Create and monitor dashboards and alerts to maintain the high availability of our services and pipelines.
- Learn new technologies, approaches, and bring Carvana software engineering to the next level.
What you should know
Expertise with Go.At least 5 years of software development, with consistently advancing skills and responsibilities.Proven track record and passion for learning new programming languages and software frameworks.Experience in using at least one cloud service (AWS, Azure, or GCP).Experience in working with both SQL and NoSQL storage backends.Experience in automated testing best strategies and principles.Experience in debugging and troubleshooting web services, APIs, libraries, and cloud deployments.Good technical and personal communication and collaboration skills, including verbal and written skills, interpersonal relational skills, and a positive and constructive attitude.It would be great if you also had
Experience with Node, TypeScript, and C#.Technical leadership experience including a demonstrated proficiency in working closely with product management partners and diverse stakeholders to incept, design, develop, and ultimately deliver robust value-adding software solutions.Experience mentoring and guiding the technical and career progression of junior engineers.Experience designing system architectures for scale and high availability.Experience in writing GraphQL interfaced services.Experience in container-oriented architecture using Docker and Kubernetes.Experience in using pub-sub or message queues, such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.What we’ll offer in return
