Position Summary:
The Software Developer role will assist in the research and translational activities in medical imaging to solve important clinically-relevant problems. The Software Developer will work in a thriving research and software development environment where they will be able to interact with researchers and clinicians in the department. This position will involve software development tasks to support the AI algorithm development lifecycle (including advanced algorithmic development, development of data infrastructures to interface with the clinical radiology PACS systems, development and testing of AI solutions, and development of front-end deployment platforms for AI solution), and will allow for improving the candidate's engineering/coding skills, as well as becoming familiar with medical imaging subject matter, while gaining real-world experience in working with contemporary healthcare data and healthcare date infrastructures
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Develops and implements complex applications, application databases, and interactive Web interfaces according to design specifications and departmental standards; establishes test plans and data; validates and verifies functions in applications; and prepares necessary forms and documentation for implementation.
2. Interviews clients/users for problem definition and analyzes user needs, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
3. Writes and maintains technical documentation for application requirements, coding standards, and operational procedures.
4. Maintains, revises, and updates current application code or configuration including troubleshooting, fixing bugs, and improving functionality.
5. Resolves problems that arise with existing production applications.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
Experience with computer hardware, software and programming.
Excellent technical and general communication skills, both oral and written.
Experience with Web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or related experience in lieu of education.
Field of study preferred: biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, biological sciences, or other field of study related to AI and/or radiology research. Independent coursework in relevant field (e.g. AI or data science) can be substituted for formal degree
Minimum Experience:
Five (5) year of relevant experience.
Prior experience with computer science, data science, healthcare or biological sciences coursework or research preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
