The Technical Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring month-end close and accounting deliverables are accurately, timely and efficiently executed in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. This position is also responsible for the management of Accounting staff and requires collaboration with departments supporting and utilizing financial information. Requires a bachelors degree in Finance / Accounting and at least 5 years of experience in the field with people management experience preferred. / ppCore Responsibilities and Essential Functions : / polliAssist with the management / direction of general accounting functions / processes ulliResponsible for successfully closing Wellstar Health Systems financial statements monthly / liliMaintain and approve various journal entries prepared by team members / liliAssist with the application of GAAP to new transactions, where applicable, including researching guidance and proposing accounting positions / liliEnsures that the monthly close calendar is adhered to and that all close and compliance procedures are met / liliPerform balance sheet and income statement analyses / liliReview balance sheet account reconciliations and assist in ensuring completion / liliAssist with preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial and compliance reporting / liliSupports annual audits / li / ul / liliManage / supervise the general accounting staff ulliResponsible for interviewing, hiring, and training new employees / liliAssigns responsibilities to team members giving consideration to skill / experience levels / liliSupervise staff in performance of their duties including annual performance evaluations / liliMentor / coach and continue to train and develop in order to allow for better utilization and efficiency of team members and responsibilities / liliAssist with continuing education for staff through department meetings and special sessions / li / ul / liliSpecial projects, as assigned ulliAssist with special projects as assigned / liliAcquisitions, accounting, and reporting / li / ul / li / olpComplies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. / ppRequired Minimum Education : Bachelors Degree Accounting / Finance Masters Degree Accounting / Finance, MBA / ppRequired Minimum License(s) and Certification(s) : All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated. / ppAdditional License(s) and Certification(s) : Certified Public Accountant Preferred / ppRequired Minimum Experience : Minimum 5 years experience in finance, accounting Required People management experience Preferred / ppRequired Minimum Skills : Working and current knowledge of US GAAP rules and regulations Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to solve complex problems Strong written and verbal communication including interpersonal skills necessary to lead direct reports and interact effectively with business leaders across different functions throughout the organization Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, highly adaptable to change. Ability to manage and lead multiple projects, delegate work, prioritize work, meet deadlines and concentrate on detailed information. Self-motivated and proactive, conscientious and detail-oriented.
