The Assets Protection (AP) team is dedicated to ensuring the safety of our guests, team members, and brand. We manage crisis situations, mitigate loss risks, prevent theft, and strengthen community relationships, including with law enforcement.

The Role of a Security Protection Specialist

This position offers opportunities to:

• Develop skills in intelligence-led strategies to enhance safety.
• Gain crisis response and crowd management experience for both guests and team members.
• Learn de-escalation techniques and physical security practices.
• Operate Target's video surveillance system effectively.
• Accurately document cases using case management systems.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Welcome guests by greeting them at the store entrance.
• Encourage a secure shopping environment by assessing safety standards throughout the store and its surroundings.
• Respond to and document security incidents promptly and accurately.
• Provide assistance to guests to maintain a safe shopping atmosphere.
• Utilize de-escalation tactics during security incidents.
• Perform merchandise theft recoveries and support theft apprehensions while adhering to AP policies.
• Prevent theft at the front of the store by conducting merchandise receipt checks and recognizing trends.
• Submit thorough documentation of incidents according to AP policy.
• Effectively use Target's video surveillance system.
• Promote a culture of ethical conduct and compliance.
• Work safely and report potential hazards.
• Fulfill other duties as needed based on business requirements.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Meet all state and local licensure and legal requirements for the role.

• Work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Manage tasks and workloads effectively.
• Maintain focus and composure in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to climb ladders.
• Ability to apprehend subjects according to company policy.
• Safely handle and move merchandise, lifting up to 40 pounds regularly.
• Demonstrate reliable attendance and flexibility with scheduling.
• Comfortable working in varying temperatures and conditions.
• Maintain mobility throughout a scheduled shift.
