Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on and dependable Machine Shop Supervisor to lead our first shift operations. This individual will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day activities of CNC lathe areas, coordinating with machine operators, programmers, and engineers to meet production goals, and ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency standards are upheld. The ideal candidate will have machining experience, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise CNC lathe operators and coordinate daily activities to meet production targets
- Prioritize job scheduling and labor assignments based on production demands, shift workload, and delivery schedules
- Review daily production reports and provide updates to management regarding performance, delays, and staffing
- Lead shift handoff communication to ensure seamless coordination between shifts
- Provide guidance and troubleshooting support to operators during setups and production runs
- Monitor part quality and ensure team members follow proper inspection procedures and documentation standards
- Collaborate with engineers, planners, and quality personnel to ensure accurate job execution and workflow
- Enforce safety standards, work procedures, and cleanliness across the department
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase machine utilization and reduce downtime
- Support training and development of new and existing operators
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environmentPrior experience in a lead or supervisory role within a machine shop preferredStrong leadership, communication, and organizational skillsFamiliarity with ERP systems, job travelers, and machine load trackingComfortable working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlinesHigh school diploma or GED required; additional technical training in machining, manufacturing, or industrial technology is a plusHands-on experience with CNC operations and basic knowledge of programming, setup, and toolingSolid understanding of machining principles, materials, and production workflowsWhy Join AST?

Job Type : Full-Time, On-SitePay Range : $80,000 – $100,000 per year (commensurate with experience)Hours & Schedule
