Contract flexibility - Full-time 6-month engagement with potential extensions. Requirements Key Responsibilities Tune queries and indexes using Query Store DMVs and manual optimizations. Manage and monitor Azure SQL Managed Instances across U.S. / EU regions. Design and execute backup strategies and point-in-time restores. Configure auto-failover groups and implement geo-replication. Reduce database file sizes and optimize transaction log growth. Monitor performance using Azure Monitor Log Analytics and SQL Analytics. Support migration from on-prem SQL Server to Managed Instances. Scale compute and storage for high-growth large-volume data systems. Must-Have Skills 510 years as a SQL DBA in enterprise-scale environments Deep expertise in Azure SQL Managed Instances including tier architecture (General Purpose vs. Business Critical) scaling compute / storage beyond 10TB migration of on-prem SQL Server and handling distributed / elastic queries Advanced T-SQL index tuning and query optimization using Query Store DMVs and manual techniques Experience with large databases (5TB) in 24x7 production environments Proven ability to reduce database file sizes and manage transaction log growth High Availability and Disaster Recovery : auto-failover groups geo-replication point-in-time restores Proficient with monitoring tools : Azure Monitor Log Analytics SQL Analytics Nice-to-Have Skills Experience reducing transaction log sizes and managing file storage overhead Prior support for global or compliance-heavy environments (e.g. healthcare EU data zones) Exposure to Business Critical tier optimization at scale Familiarity with elastic pools and query optimization across distributed databases Benefits Benefits & Call-to-Action Contractor-friendly structure focus on delivery not red tape Global footprint support systems across U.S. and EU with impact at scale Work with top-tier teams collaborate with senior engineers and infrastructure leads
