Description : This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Medical Surgical specialty unit. The nurse will work night shifts of 12 hours. Nurse-to-patient ratios typically range from 1 : 5 to 1 : 6, adjusted for patient acuity. Required certifications include BLS, with ACLS for charge RNs. The unit handles hematology and oncology patients, including those undergoing chemotherapy. There will be opportunities for professional development, including administration of chemotherapy. Every patient is monitored, and RNs should be capable of interpreting telemetry strips. Charge nurses may have light patient assignments but can take full loads if necessary. All staff members float within the medical surgical units based on their skill sets. The position entails four weekend shifts per month and rotating holiday requirements. Scrubs must be solid colors and professional in appearance. The shift schedule is typically self-scheduled when possible, with flexibility during the week.
