Job Title : Directional Drill Operator

Reports To : Construction Manager

Employment Status : Hourly (Non-exempt)

Primary Location : Columbus, OH

We will determine salary based on skills and experience in relation to the function of the role, as well as equity to any other employees in the same or similar role.

Job Summary :

We are looking for a Directional Drill Operator to join our growing team. The Operator will be responsible for operating drilling equipment and / or locating the predetermined path to the exit point. They will operate in a safe manner, avoiding utilities and other obstacles. We are looking for experienced individuals with knowledge of the telecommunications construction industry.

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to) :

• Operate drilling and various other construction equipment in compliance with the company's operating safety policies and procedures.
• Drill and / or locate predetermined path to exit point.
• Load and unload equipment from vehicles and trailers to assist in support of drilling operations.
• Responsible for regular maintenance and care of the assigned heavy equipment, produce any documentation needed for each job, daily communication with managers is a must.
• Loads and hauls the machine (if appropriately licensed).
• Drives, sets up, and breaks down safely and efficiently.
• Operates heavy equipment near active utilities.
• Have knowledge of shoring systems and how to use them
• Rigging and setting of structures
• Along with operating must be willing to assist in other activities such as but not limited to
• Placement of conduit in open trenches
• Proofing conduits
• Potholing existing utilities
• Forming and pouring of concrete
• Placement of asphalt
• Avoids any marked utilities and implements all precautions to prevent utility strikes.
• Communicates with supervisors for job details.
• Before the equipment is utilized, walks path to ensure all utilities have been located and develops a plan for going above or below each utility or obstacle in the path.
• Inspects and maintains job equipment.
• Adheres to all company policies, procedures, standards, and safety rules.
• Travel overnight to various sites as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
