CMHCS Resource Nurse RN

Position Description

Employees in this classification perform responsible professional nursing care at a correctional unit. Responsible for the care and treatment of patients in accordance with accepted nursing and medical standards administrative nursing personnel. Supervises other subordinate clinic personnel. Work is performed under correctional clinic conditions; position requires a high degree of contact with patients, other clinic personnel and outside professionals.

Major / Essential Functions

• Provides direct nursing services to patients in the health facility following standards of care of the department. Timely, concisely, and appropriately documents activities in patients' health records.
• Ensures clinical health equipment and technology is in good working order, and maintains equipment according to departmental standards. Including operational use, cleaning / sterilization protocols. Immediately reports inoperable equipment per departmental standards.
• Assistance in exams and procedures is conducted within the RN scope of practice. All activities are clearly, concisely documented in patients' health records. Specimens taken during exam or procedure are labeled at patient's bedside.
• Ensures patient medications are administered following clinical and compliance policies and procedures. Activities are documented clearly and concisely in medication systems and patients' health records timely and accurately.
• Receives, documents, assesses, and responds to patient care requests according to policy and standards of the department. Clearly, concisely, and timely documents activities in the patient's health records.
• Nursing rounds will be performed per department standards; any and all complaints are documented in patients' health record. Additional healthcare needs are requested as needed.
• Oversees the clinical practice of LVNs and other clinical personnel in the health facility
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in the job classification and / or position description.

Schedule Details

PRN- Night Shift. This is a PRN position, which will require at least 2 shifts per month, with no more than 20 hours per week, with at least one shift being a weekend. Shifts are 12 hours (7 : 00PM-7 : 00AM)

Pay Statement

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan website at
