English Language Instructor

$23.50 per hour

The Center for Global Engagement, CGE, is seeking experienced English language instructors to join our .

Position Responsibilities

·Teaches English language classes (reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar) in the Academic and General programs in the English Language Institute.

·Assesses and reports student progress.

·Records class attendance.

·Teaches in both in-person and online environments.

·Understands teaching methodologies and tools, including Learning Management Systems such as Canvas.

·Contributes to instructor professional development.

·Advises students on a range of cultural, academic, and personal matters, referring students to the director and assistant director as needed.

·Participates in all instructor meetings.

·Participates in selected student activities.

Qualifications

Education and Experience : Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of experience as ESL instructor in higher education, international education, online education, or related field.

Education and Experience : Master’s degree, and at least two years of experience as ESL instructor in higher education, international education, online education, or related field.

The is comprised of seven units (Asia Engagement, Communications, English Language Institute, Global Research, the International House, International Student and Scholar Services, and Programs Abroad) who are responsible for working throughout campus, across Tennessee and around the world to provide enriching and diverse international experiences for faculty, students and scholars.
