Position Summary
The Sr Quality Engineer is a hands-on leader responsible for ensuring all plating and surface finishing operations meet customer company and industry quality standards. This role requires frequent presence on the production floor to lead problem-solving coach employees and drive a culture of quality ownership. The Quality Engineer will interpret engineering requirements manage inspection and testing processes maintain ISO / QS systems and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Interpret engineering drawings specifications and customer requirements to determine quality and reliability standards.
Confer with management and engineering to align on achievable high-performance standards for plated and coated products.Problem Solving & Corrective ActionsFacilitate problem-solving meetings with operators line leaders and managers to resolve internal and external quality issues.
Document and implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate root causes.Quality Systems ManagementMaintain and improve quality systems consistent with QS-9000 / ISO-9001 methodologies.
Communicate and train plant personnel in quality policies work instructions and procedures.Inspection & Testing OversightDirect inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control of materials processes and finished goods.
Verify that all in-process and final testing is completed recorded and reported accurately.Standards OptimizationRecommend modifications to existing quality or production standards to achieve optimal quality within equipment capability.
Equipment & Documentation ControlEnsure proper care calibration and certification of all gauges measurement tools and testing equipment.
Organize and maintain document control systems for all quality-related materials (certifications prints and specifications).Process and Product QualificationMaintain and update PPAP documentation for production parts.
Develop and maintain FMEA Control Plans and Process Flow Diagrams.Compliance & SafetyConduct safety and environmental inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Oversee wastewater treatment operations and ensure adherence to discharge and reporting standards.Evaluate chemical and physical properties of process solutions to maintain quality and compliance.Continuous ImprovementEstablish sampling testing and measurement systems to monitor key quality parameters.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis and QOS metrics.Other DutiesPerform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Engineering Chemistry or related technical field or equivalent technical training and 5 years of experience in quality or process management within a manufacturing or plating environment.Experience with automotive quality systems (QS-9000 IATF 16949 ISO 9001) preferred.Proven ability to lead in a hands-on fast-paced production setting .Required Training & Certifications
