Packaging Operator

Aerotek is hiring Packaging Operators for a Food/Beverage Manufacturing company located in the downtown Memphis area. This is a 1st shift position paying $18.50/hr, 6 month contract to hire. Please apply for immediate consideration.

Shift: 7am-7pm (3 on, 3 off. must be able to work 12-24 hours overtime each week)

Job Description

Join the team at a company dedicated to producing FDA product. As a Packaging Operator, you will be at the heart of our production process, responsible for the efficient bagging and handling of our products. Your role includes operating machinery to fill bags, weighing and sealing bags, and ensuring they are ready for shipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate machinery to fill, weigh, and seal bags for shipment.
• Ensure all products are packaged correctly and meet quality standards.
• Comply with all safety and FDA regulations, including wearing protective gear.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, performing housekeeping tasks during downtime.

Essential Skills

• Ability to repeatedly lift 50lb bags and manage physical tasks throughout the shift.
• Basic mathematical skills for accurately weighing bags.
• Food/Beverage or FDA-regulated environment experience is a must.
• Willingness to be trained and certified to operate a forklift if required.
• Compliance with safety requirements, including wearing protective shoes and using provided safety gear.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Strong commitment to quality control and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a team environment and support group efforts.
• Willingness to maintain workplace cleanliness and perform housekeeping tasks.
• Previous experience in a food and beverage manufacturing environment is required.

Work Environment

The position operates on the first shift from 7am-7pm, typically working 3 days on and 3 days off without rotation. The work environment includes packaging rooms and coolers with consistent temperatures of about 50 degrees. The facility is damp with strong odors. It is an FDA-regulated environment, requiring no jewelry, nails, or false eyelashes. Hairnets, beard nets, lab coats, ear plugs, and safety glasses are provided, but steel toe shoes are required and must be provided by the employee.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.
