Quality Assurance Technician

POSITION SUMMARY :

The Quality Assurance Technician is a key player in maintaining and improving product quality at Wieland Designs, Inc. This role is responsible for inspection and verification of incoming and in-process materials and finished goods, utilizing a wide range of quality tools and techniques. The technician supports nonconformance investigations through root cause analysis, and contributes to the implementation of corrective and preventive actions. The position also plays an active role in supplier quality performance, document control, and customer satisfaction initiatives. Candidates must possess strong technical aptitude, an analytical mindset, and the interpersonal skills required to collaborate across departments and with external partners.

CORE COMPETENCIES REQUIRED :

• Proficient in print reading for manufacturing, including complex assembly drawings and tolerance interpretation.
• Skilled in precision measurement techniques using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
• Working knowledge of Quality Tools & Techniques : cause-and-effect diagrams, check sheets, Pareto analysis, control charts.
• Familiar with problem-solving frameworks : PDCA, A3 thinking, 5 Whys, and Root Cause Analysis.
• Foundational understanding of Basic Statistical Process Control (SPC) and capability studies.
• Exposure to Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
• Awareness of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Control Plan development.
• Competence in basic Excel for data tracking, trend analysis, and reporting.
• Understanding of ISO 9001 : 2015 and ISO 13485 (medical devices) requirements.
