Role : Mainframe Migrations specialist (Data Migration Mainframe to RDBMS)
Location : Dallas TX
In one sentence
You will be extracting data from a variety of legacy mainframe databases, mapping the raw data to new database systems in either the cloud or on-premises data solutions, formatting and importing client data from legacy systems to modern data environments-all using your knowledge of data structures, data relationships and data strategy.
What will your job look like?
You will :
- Collaborate with mainframe migration teams to find solutions to cross code and data related bugs and issues
- Convert database structures and application data from mainframe technologies ( Adabas, IDMS, VSAM, DB2 zOS ) to the equivalent RDBMS structures in SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and others
- Clearly define the root cause of problems using defect reporting tools
- Validate customer data in destination systems
- Provide clear descriptions and feedback on tool performance for the RND team
- Complete database performance analysis, and tune runtime and data loading performance where applicable
- Consult and guide team on issues encountered
- Configure and populate relational databases on Linux / Windows or in the Cloud
- Leverage your broad experience across various cloud DBMS services, operations, interfaces and installations to compare and recommend implementation solutions
All you need is...
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent7+ years' expert experience with relational and transactional languages as a DBA (DDL, DML, TCL, etc.)3+ years' experience modernizing mainframe data systemsExperience with both Windows and LinuxUnderstanding of z / OS and / or Unisys based database systemsUnderstanding of IMS, VSAM, JCL, COBOLFamiliarity with SQL language structures and performance tuningExperience with scripting languages (Powershell, bash, Python, etc.)
