Fire Sprinkler Technician

The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing fire protection organization as they launch and scale a brand-new Phoenix branch. This role is ideal for a highly independent, proactive Fire Life Safety professional who thrives with autonomy, takes ownership of their work, and enjoys building long-term client relationships.
This position is heavily inspection-focused, with the majority of work centered on sprinkler systems and backflow prevention. You will manage your own client portfolio, become a trusted face to customers, and play a key role in establishing the company’s presence in the Phoenix market.
Role Focus (Very Important)
- Primarily inspection-based role
- Heavily sprinkler-focused
- Approximately 70% backflow inspection and testing
- Minimal fire alarm work
- Limited direction day-to-day — this role requires a true self-starter mentality
What You’ll Be Doing
- Perform inspection and testing of fire sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA standards
- Conduct backflow prevention device inspections and testing (majority of the role)
- Inspect and test fire extinguishers and other life safety systems as required
- Identify code deficiencies, non-conformance issues, and clearly communicate findings
- Complete accurate inspection reports, service tickets, and compliance documentation
- Manage a designated group of clients and build strong, long-term customer relationships
- Serve as a primary point of contact for customers — technicians are known by name
- Maintain truck inventory and ensure readiness for scheduled inspections
- Work independently with a set schedule and take ownership of daily execution
- Adhere to all OSHA and safety standards at all times
- Support branch growth by delivering consistent, high-quality service

Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience inspecting and servicing fire life safety systems
- Strong sprinkler system inspection experience (Wet, Dry, Deluge, Pre-Action, Fire Pumps)
- Backflow certification REQUIRED — or must be willing and able to obtain immediately
- Familiarity with NFPA codes, including NFPA 13, 13R, 13D, 14, 20, and 25
- Experience inspecting backflow prevention devices
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, and technical documentation
- Proficient with inspection tools and test equipment
- Physically capable of lifting 50–70 lbs and working at heights up to 40 feet
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass a background check
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- NICET certifications or other fire-related certifications
- Fire Extinguisher License (State of AZ)
- Experience with pipe installation and sprinkler system components
